Connie Achtenberg of Manchester competed in the 2003 Edith Scheonrock International Figure Skating Competition in Port Huron the weekend of Feb. 7-9. More than 600 figure skaters competed in 153 events at the McMorran Place arenas.
Friday morning Connie skated her free skating program to Glenn Miller’s "In the Mood" and won the gold medal. Later on Friday, she competed in the compulsory moves, this time placing second for the silver medal. In a third Friday event she participated in skating jumps, where she won her second gold medal of the day.
Connie finished the competition Saturday morning with her spins competition, placing third to receive the bronze medal.
Connie trains at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube with the Ann Arbor Figure Skating Club. She will be skating in the Melody on Ice show on March 21-23 at the Cube.
